INTERVIEW WITH COUTURE CONSULTING:
1. How did you come up with your inspiration board?
First, we were given the color, "Cream" as our inspirational color. After receiving this, Kristy and I brainstormed together on a conceptual design and then went in search of pictures that described our concept. Along the way, we found other photos that gave us detail inspiration and led to the overall look. We did plenty of Google searches as well as visited websites such as Pinterest. Lastly, we added words around our inspiration board describing the feeling our vignette would portray.
2. What was your favorite part of your vignette?
Our favorite part of our vignette was our Aspen tree. Standing two stories tall, this beautiful tree was the center of attention to brides and gave them a creative idea for meaningful and stunning ceremony. Drenched in David Austin roses (specialty roses which yield a soft, yet gorgeous scent absolutely perfect for a wedding), the tree boasted a bride and groom's carved initials within a heart and hand-written wishes from guests hanging from branches. Candles inside miniature lanterns on the tree gave it a romantic glow. For couples getting married outside or even looking for a unique way to bring the outdoors in, this tree is an unbelievable WOW for any wedding (and is currently available to rent!).
3. How could this vignette translate to a bride's wedding?
It's very important to us that when we create a dream vignette, that we provide ideas of how it can be used as inspiration for a variety of styles. For example, we featured three beautiful jars full of tangible ideas that couples could take home and use for their wedding - no matter their budget or style. For example, one of our ideas was how to incorporate guests (especially for those unable to attend) into a wedding. Our idea (which was shown on the Aspen tree) is to include a "Wish" card in an invitation or Save the Date in which guests write their wishes to the bride and groom and send it back to the couple, their parents, or even the bridal party. The wishes may then be created and used as a design element of the wedding. Whether hanging from a hand-made chandelier or Aspen tree that a couple gets married under or even made into a wreath that's displayed on church doors or at the entrance to the cocktail reception, it's a beautiful way to honor the people that are so special to the couple while encouraging their wishes to fill the air on such a meaningful day.
4. Describe your vignette in three words. Love...Delight...Believe
5. Given the constraints of space your vignette was only a piece of a wedding, name one other element you would add if you weren't limited by space or budget?
With the fabulous chef we had in our vignette, we would have loved to have had the space to have served more scrumptious delights! It was an honoring working with Chef Hosea Rosenberg, Winner of BRAVO's Top Chef, Season 5 and now owner of Blackbelly Catering here in Colorado. His creative talents, and charming personality, and skilled team are a rare find when searching for the right caterer and this team is first class. Guests adored his desserts that evening and we all would have loved to have had many more courses!
What we love to tie into each of our weddings we plan no matter what space or budget we are given is elements or details at the wedding that mean something to the couple. Personal touches that the guests can enjoy without braking the bank or needing a lot of space. One of our favorite we help guests with is a personal touch to the place card. Under each guests name we have the bride and groom write one or two sentences about that guest. It shows each guest how much you care about them and not costing any more to an item you were already planning on doing and not taking up any extra space except room on each card.
6. What is the theme song for your vignette?
A Brand New Day by Joshua Radin. We love the innocence of this song and the simplicity of the words that hold such powerful meaning. For both the love a couple feels when they find each other and how everything will be perfect when working with our company, we love the sweetness of this song:
Some kind of magic
Happens late at night
When the moon smiles down at me
And bathes me in its light
It's a brand new day
The sun is shining
It's a brand new day
For the first time in such a long long time
I know, I'll be ok
7. Aside from Mile High Station, name one location in Colorado where you would love to execute a wedding with your vignette's style?
We are very versatile, but have found we have great talent and passion for pastures, mountain hillsides, and anything outdoors. As we continue to explore Colorado's great natural wonders, we would love to find even more fabulous out of the box locations that challenge us to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
For example, one of our favorite locations this past year was a wedding on a winding river and hillside in Bailey. The scene created was right out of a movie with the feel of a speakeasy, with eclectic vintage design, and lush in the love of outdoors and each other. A vintage Army tent served as the bar and old fashioned claw footed bathtubs were used to hold champagne bottles on ice. Wildflowers were thrown at the end of the ceremony so the couple can visit the location next year and enjoy the flowers that spring up and luxurious old time couches sat in the middle of the field where the traditional "photo booth" was turned into pictures that look like they could be taken right out of a magazine ad.
We will never forget the feeling we had as wedding planners at this wedding - we looked at each other at one point and couldn't believe what we were experiencing. We were filled with the love of beauty, of nature, and of things that held meaning from this generation and so many previous as well. The best part? If we were feeling such warmth and awe, we couldn't imagine the incredible time the guests had.
